Comments:

Attended Kindergarten at the Blvd Pk church basement. Then Boulevard Park Elementary and Puget Sound Jr. High schools. I have been deaf to the high and soft sounds since I was 2 years old. Can hear low sounds but not understand the whole words or put sentences together. Parents did not want to send me to a deaf school. I did attend summer school at the U of W Speech and Hearing Center to learn to lip- read which is the only way I communicate face to face with people. I don't do sign language but know a little bit of it.
I worked 21 years as a Para teaching in Bow Lake Elementary's Deaf and Hard of Hearing program - preschool to 6th grader students in different years. Retired from the Highline School District in Fall of 2007.
Before that, worked as a clerk in downtown Seattle's Pacific National Bank for 7 years and 4 years at Washington Trust Bank in Spokane.
Mother M. Ruth Moore Rehbein graduated from Highline HS in 1935.
Father Roy H. Rehbein graduated from Roosevelt High School.
I am still a member of OES since 1959 but do not go to chapters anymore. I was a Past Matron in 1981-82 of Delta Chapter in Tukwila and a state Grand Representative of West Virginia in 2000-2002.
Since retirement in 2007 volunteering at the SeaTac Senior Center's making annual raffle quilts and items for their bazaar. John and I do woodcarving every week with the SeaTac senior group since I retired. We have traveled the ALCAN Highway, across Canada, all around USA, and Hawaii. Been to Mexico, Vienna Austria, before I was married. Grandmother of 4 and great grandmother of 2.

School Story:

The three sisters in the Rehbein family lived in the Boulevard Park corner of Highline School District. When the district was divided in half due to the overflow at Highline High School, the line was down 128th St. for those living in the north would attend Evergreen HS. Then it was divided again and those in the south would attend Glacier.
My sister Joyce, 16 months younger, graduated from Evergreen HS and my little sister Jean, 18 months younger than Joyce, graduated from Glacier HS. We all lived in the same house but graduated from three different High Schools!

We have known Linda Keene Kolb and her family for years in the Masonic organization. She was a cheerful and wonderful person. Lovely family. Her brother was my associate in the order and her Mother was a talented organist. Parents owned a furnature store in Federal Way. Sorry to hear she has passed.  Judy Pugh

Joy was fun to be around. We attened games and graduation parties. May our memories be treasured as the old Highline High School building is being replaced, but not our friendships among classmates.

Many good memories of water skiing and picnics at their cabin on Hood Canal. Jerry was a lot of fun and a good person.
